Visiting Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

July 28, 2017 by Brittany Kelly Leave a Comment

This past weekend we has the pleasure of being invited to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, TX for a full day of fun!

Even though I grew up in North Texas I had never been before so I was pretty excited to experience it.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Thank you Six Flags Hurricane Harbor for the complimentary tickets to take this day trip! We had a blast!

What to Bring to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

We brought a bag full of things that we did end up needing, but we probably could have left most of it in the truck. Since I had never been before I wasn’t sure what we would need so I brought in towels, dry clothes, sunscreen, phones, wallets, etc. When we got there we rented a locker, but I instead I wish we would have just bought one of these (tons of people were wearing them) to hold a phone and money so that we didn’t have to keep going back to the locker when we needed stuff.

As for the towels and dry clothes, we never used them until we were leaving so we could have left them in the truck and brought them back in to change in the changing rooms.

Bring water shoes or flip flops! I cannot stress this enough. Especially make sure your kids have them on because it is Texas and the concrete is HOT. You can either hold your flip flops while you are going down the waterslides or set them at the bottom of the slide and grab them when you get off.

So here is a recap of what you will probably need to bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Flip flops or water shoes
  • Towels
  • Dry clothes
  • Money

Eating at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

There are numerous places to eat at the park. You can get your hand stamped and either go eat lunch at a nearby restaurant or bring a packed lunch and eat it outside of the park. You cannot bring food or drinks into the park.

We all ate the nachos and they were super good. I can’t remember the exact name of the plate of nachos I ordered, but they were loaded with meat and vegetables.

I would highly recommend buying one of the souvenir cups because they come with free refills the whole day. We alternated filling up our souvenir cup with soda and ice water and we drank well over what we paid for the cup so it was worth it.

The cool thing about the cup we bought is that if we bring it back and pay a discounted price we can get the unlimited free refills again!

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Do you need a Flash Pass?

A flash pass basically jumps you to the front of the waiting line for the waterslides. Here are the prices for them:

The Flash Pass $25

This pass allows you to “reserve” your spot in line without actually being there. So if you want to ride a waterslide, but the wait time is 40 minutes you can reserve your spot in line and go ride other slides or eat lunch while you are waiting instead of standing in the line the whole time.

The Flash Pass Gold $40

This pass is the same as above, but it cuts your wait time down by 50%.

The Flash Pass Platinum $65

This pass cuts down your wait time by 90%!

The biased answer from me is YES, get a flash pass! If it is not in your budget then it definitely is not a necessity to have fun, but if you feel like splurging a little I say go for it.

When we first got there we did not buy one and we rode 2 rides in almost 2 hours. The park was running smoothly just like it should, but it was a weekend and there were a lot of people there. We still would have had fun without the flash passes, but this way we had time to ride all of the rides multiple times.

We bought the lowest tier of the Flash Pass so it was $25 a piece and I would totally do it again. You can buy Flash Passes online here

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Pricing

Right off the bat, parking is $25 so make sure you bring the extra money for that. You can buy parking passes online here a little cheaper than what they are at the gate.

The ticket prices are $32 a piece. You can get them cheaper by buying early here.

If you want lunch you are probably going to spend about $10 per person.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Rides

Okay, now here is the fun part!! My favorite rides!

I rode all but 2 of the rides. I am not a huge fan of the straight drops like the ones on Der Stuka or Dive Bomber so I opted out of those!

Here are my favorites….

The Black Hole

This ride was so much fun, we went multiple times! It is almost completely dark inside of the slide and there are a ton of twists turns and drops that you can’t see coming! You ride on this slide in a tube and can do doubles or singles. I loved riding double!

Tsunami Surge

For this waterslide you also ride double and inside of a tube. This slide had me screaming with my eyes closed the whole time, but it was a BLAST! The video of this slide on the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor website does not do it justice. We actually thought it was going to be boring until we were already heading down! haha!

Tornado

The Tornado is a tube ride where you get to ride with 4 people! The drop on this waterslide is huge and it is so much fun to ride along with your friends on this one!

Those were my three favorites at Hurricane Harbor. You can see all of the rides here.
