Thank you Coco & Eve for sponsoring this post!
If you are reading this as a parent your first thought is probably this…”Me time? Yeah, right?”
It is true. After having kids, me time is very few and far between, but as I’ve grown into motherhood I have found small ways to care for myself along the way (like using the 10-minute “Like a Virgin” hair mask by Coco & Eve)!
It sounds too good to be true, but sometimes 10 minutes is all we need. 10 minutes to meditate, relax, have a bit of chocolate alone, or whatever you need to do to make you feel like you again!
For me, it is pampering myself. Nothing crazy like an hour-long massage (although that would be nice), but something as simple as painting my nails or putting my makeup on in the morning can make me feel more like me again and not a walking zombie who is at the mercy of a toddler.
Most recently, my me time obsession has been treating my hair with a Coco & Eve hair mask. It only takes 10 minutes and I use it in place of my regular conditioner so if I can have my husband watch our daughter long enough for me to shower, I have the time to relax and indulge in a little self-care to help me feel normal.
If he works late or something I make sure to take the time after my toddler is asleep to shower and pamper myself a little, even if it is late. It makes me feel refreshed and confident!
When to Take a Break
It is hard, but here are a few tips for finding time to take a 10-minute break for you:
- Wake up 30 minutes before your kids and indulge in yourself.
- Nap time
- Grab a printable activity or color page from Pinterest and have your children do that while you take a few minutes for yourself.
- Play Doh and LEGOs are two activities that always keep my daughter occupied and sitting in one place long enough for me to take a breather.
Giving Yourself Grace
Give yourself permission to leave the dishes and forget about the toys on the floor for enough time for you to reset your mind and your mood by focusing on yourself.
The more you feel centered and calm, the better parent you are going to be!
Ideas for a 10 Minute Me Time
These are some of the things that I do when I take me time. It will look different for each person based on what truly calms and centers you so I encourage you to try them all and try other things not on this list to find what works for you.
- Paint my nails
- Use Coco & Eve hair mask
- Read a book
- Listen to a podcast
- Take a walk
- Have a glass of wine or a cup of coffee alone
- Eat some chocolate
- Put my makeup on
None of these take a lot of time or energy, but all of them make me feel more relaxed. As a new mom or a seasoned mom, we all have times where we need to relax and reset!
My Latest Me Time Obsession
I have quite a few things that I do to help me relax, but my new favorite is treating my hair with a Coco & Eve hair mask. They sent me a jar of their hair mask that has no sulfates, parabens, or gluten and is also vegan and cruelty-free!
I will admit, at first I was skeptical if it would actually work on my hair because it is super thick and dry and it also is very fizzy and kinky looking once it dries. I have a hard time finding hair products that will actually work on my hair long term. I used this mask one time and my hair was noticeably smoother and healthier.
The photo on the left is my hair normally, yes this is AFTER it had already been straightened that day. I have a really hard time keeping my hair smooth. The photo on the right is the day I used the Coco & Eve mask. It was taken several hours after I used the mask and my hair held up so well. It didn’t kink or frizz at all.
The amount of time it took me to style it was probably cut in half too. With how smooth it was I barely had to spend time on styling and I didn’t use any extra product on it.
I had significantly less fly aways and honestly, I hardly had to run my straightener through it the next morning which is a HUGE time saver for moms! The main ingredients in the mask are raw virgin coconuts and figs so it makes sense that the primary results for your hair are locking in moisture and deep conditioning.
I have been using it twice a week and have noticed a HUGE difference in my hair which has me feeling more confident and more like myself every day!
