I would be lying to you if I said my house was clean every day. There are days like today where I’d rather write about keeping the house clean instead of actually doing it. But on a daily basis if you dropped in, you would most likely see a clean house. It took me a while to get there. After having my first child everything changed, and it wasn’t always easy to keep up with the laundry and the dishes. I developed a daily cleaning schedule for myself that really helps, but I have a few more tips that make that daily schedule even easier.
Laundry- I keep my laundry loads down by trying to finish at least one load every day. Until I can get that done I don’t want to look at laundry thrown across every room in my house. So I put a laundry basket in every single room. Every bedroom and bathroom in our house has a small laundry basket just big enough to hold a day or two’s worth of laundry. Not only does this keep my house from looking cluttered, but it makes it easier for me to go from room to room to collect the laundry.
Bathroom- Cleaning the bathroom is not fun and it makes it even harder to convince myself to do it if it is not quick and easy. In our bathrooms I keep a bin of cleaning supplies like toilet cleaner and multipurpose cleaner with paper towels to make it easy for me to wipe down the counters and be done. Cleaning the bathroom only takes me 2 or 3 minutes now because it is so accessible that I am trying to do it every day.
10-15 minute Pick Ups- We have a playroom, but that doesn’t stop the toys from magically migrating across the house. I do a 10 minute house- wide pickup either late at night after everyone is in bed or early in the morning before our daughter wakes up and another one right before Brandon comes home. I think my afternoon pick up is more important because I know he does not want to come home to a messy house after working all day (I would’t want to either). I make this WAY easier on myself by having a small toy basket in the living room and our bedroom. Anything that isn’t in these areas is close enough to toss back into the playroom. You’d be surprised how much better your house will look after just 10- 15 minutes of cleanup!
Making Beds- My biggest tip here is to do it before you even leave the bedroom in the morning. You most likely are not going to go back and do it.
These are just a couple tips for how I make my daily cleaning checklist more manageable. I have TONS of cleaning hacks to share with you soon 🙂
