One thing that I am not incredibly good at, but am trying hard to improve is making our mornings run smoothly.
Typically because I stay up so late working after everyone goes to sleep, mornings aren’t my strong suit. But with my daughter being a toddler (and having more demands) I need to make my mornings run as smoothly as possible or it just sets a bad tone for the rest of the day.
How to Make Mornings Run Smoothly
If you prepare everything you need for the morning the night before, your day will run much better. If you exercise in the morning then plan out what you are going to do and lay out your clothes. If you are getting ready for work, pick out your clothes the night before.
Setting the coffee maker to run at a certain time helps me so much because when I wake up my coffee is already there to jumpstart my day…and I have to have a cup before I am fully functional!
Clean the Night Before
Make sure that your house and your kitchen are picked up before you go to bed at night. Waking up in a clean house will make you feel more energized and willing to tackle the day.
Did you see my friend Becky’s post on how clutter and depression go hand in hand? It really is an eye opener on how much having a messy house affects you emotionally. I personally feel so much more motivated to get things done when my house is clean!
I know that it has been said time and time again, but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant it just has to be something that can fill your belly with nutritious food.
Our favorite quick and easy breakfast choice are Jimmy Dean’s 9oz Breakfast Bowls from HEB! They are really great tasting with chef inspired flavors like Ranchero Steak and Eggs and my favorite Loaded Potato.
Each bowl has 21-23 grams of protein and they just take a couple of minutes in the microwave to cook so you won’t be rushing around to try and get breakfast cooked.
They have several different flavors so there is something everyone in your family will like. My toddler even eats these and she loves them!
I feel good about making these for breakfast because they are hearty and have large servings so I know that my family is getting what they need in the morning. For me, having a hearty breakfast really gives me the energy to power through my day and get things done.
I actually love them so much that I will go to the kitchen and grab one at lunchtime to eat! They are really great for any meal, but I find that they are perfect for us during breakfast because of our busy schedules.
Get up Before the Kids
I know that this is way easier said than done, but I think that it helps me so much when I do it. Having an extra 30 minutes to an hour to have my coffee alone without having everyone asking me to help them with something really allows me to wake up and get going for the day.
You can just sit and drink your coffee or eat breakfast or you can do something like read a little in a book. Then when everyone else wakes up I am already in a great mood and ready to start my day and help them start theirs.
