A simple (and addicting!) homemade salsa recipe that is loaded with fresh tomatoes and cilantro!
This salsa recipe has been in my family since I was a kid. I remember making it with my mom when I was younger and now I really enjoy doing the same with my daughters. The kid’s job is ALWAYS to pick the cilantro off the stems haha!
The recipe makes a lot of salsa so if I am not making it for a large group of people, I either give away half to neighbors or my mom or I plan to eat things like breakfast tacos and other Mexican food dishes throughout the week that I can serve it with. As I write this, we are trying out a new crock pot carnitas recipe and plan on having chips and salsa with it!
HERE ARE SOME MEXICAN FOOD DISHES THAT WILL PAIR WELL WITH THIS HOMEMADE SALSA RECIPE:
MEXICAN CORNBREAD CASSEROLE | CREAMY CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP | LAYERED TACO BAKE
INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR HOMEMADE SALSA
You will need:
- 3 tomatoes
- 2-3 jalapenos
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 1 large white onion
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- salt to taste
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE SALSA
STEP ONE: Put all ingredients into a food processor or blender and blend the ingredients until they are super fine. This is not a chunky salsa.
TIP: I always start with 2 jalapenos, make the entire recipe, taste it, and then add another if needed. You never know how hot they’ll be!
I have made this recipe in a few different blenders and it always tastes the best when I use my Ninja Auto IQ blender. I always make it on the “puree” setting.
