DIY Home Gardening Kit

For years now I have loved gardening at home. We typically plant flower beds and a vegetable garden so having my own DIY home gardening kit filled with my gardening necessities is a must!

This kit was incredibly simple to put together, but is a total lifesaver for caring for your plants every day. The items included in the kit are all things that I need regularly either in the garden or flower beds.

Having all of your hand tools organized and close by makes caring for your plants so much easier.

Here are some of the things that I like to keep in my home gardening kit:

That is what is currently in my DIY gardening kit, but over the years the contents have rotated through my basket. Here are some other things that you might use:

• pocket knife
• watering hose nozzle
• weed killer
• baseball cap
• sunglasses
• sunscreen (a small bottle for my face)
• zip ties
• twine
• plant markers
• shears
• hand weeder

One of the best parts about this kit too is that it is portable. So from the garden in the back to the flower beds in the front to the indoor plants inside you can easily transport the tools you need.

Why I use DMT sharpening tools

You may have noticed something called DMT tool sharpeners that I keep in my gardening kit. I haven’t always used DMT knife sharpening tools, but now I can’t imagine going back to not using them.

Before I started using them I NEVER had sharpened a knife in my kitchen, my scissors, my gardening tools…literally nothing. Now I know, sharpening your tools is a game changer.

We have several sharpening tools from DMT, but you really only need a few to make a difference! DMT is made in the USA.

• We sharpen pruners, scissors, shears, hand shovels, and pocket knives with the DMT Diafold Flat File.
• We have the Diafold Serrated Sharpener for my serrated knives in the kitchen. This is honestly my favorite tool. I use serrated knives every day while cooking and having my knives be sharp all the time is amazing.

We use the Diamond Bench Stones and the Diamond Steel Sharpener for our larger cooking knives.
